Marmaray BC1 Project

Marmaray Project is based on refurbishment of suburban railway system in Istanbul which will be connect Halkali  located in Europe and Gebze districts located in Asia with nonstop, modern and high capacity suburb railway system.

Marmaray BC1 part of the Project connects both sides of Bosphorus together with railway lines and a railway tunnel connection to pass under Bosphorus. The line starts with Kazlıçeşme Station above the ground and goes underground in Yedikule; will proceed through Yenikapi and Sirkeci as new underground stations and pass under Bosphorus and connect to Üsküdar and reach the surface again in Söğütlüçeşme. Between Söğütlüçeşme and Yedikule Stations, journey lasts 15 minutes. The project is currently one of the world’s largest transportation infrastructure projects.

BC1 part is approximately 29 km long. The main structures and systems cover immersed tube tunnels, bored tunnels. cut-and-cover tunnels, three new underground stations and two surface stations.
