Intelligent Asset Management (iAM)
Railway assets can be defined at multiple levels from whole fleets or contracts down to specific pieces of equipment installed on a vehicle or as infrastructure. Each of these assets has a configuration that must be managed to ensure effective inventory tracking, safety and legal compliance and effective maintenance as well as many other benefits, but manual management of this configuration is a labour intensive and error prone endeavour.
Typical configuration parameters might include:
- Modification status
- Software/Firmware versions
- Customer/contract information
- Warranty information
- Location (including dynamic location for moving assets such as vehicles and equipment)
- Maintenance/overhaul status
Deliverables
- Automatic reporting of configuration parameters for RCM connected equipment where devices support it
- Serial Numbers
- Location (GPS coordinates)
- Discovery and reporting of connections to other equipment including parent and child assets e.g. a HVAC module may report the vehicle it is currently installed in
- Software/Firmware versions
- Semi-automated reporting of parameters where automatic reporting is not available
- Maintenance/overhaul status
- Warranty information
- Modification status
