Viswalk – Micro-Simulation

How do 250,000 people safely pass through Amsterdam Central Station each day?

Rely on PTV Viswalk to simulate various pedestrian dynamics.

PTV Viswalk at a glance:

  • Replicate and analyse the human walking behaviour realistically.
  • Plan pedestrian safety and evacuation measures.
  • Assess crowd capacity in buildings or public spaces.

There are too many factors that can impact the crowd flow, but with PTV Viswalk, you can run multiple scenarios and choose the best solution before real-world implementation.

“As PTV Viswalk combines both visualization and statistics, users can easily understand what is happening in the model.” Willem Mak Senior Traffic Engineer, VIALIS

About Amsterdam Central Station

Today, more than 80 trains operate during the two morning peak hours resulting in 46,500 people arriving, leaving and passing through the station. With a total of 250,000 visitors per day, the morning peak hour comprises 20% of the daily total. VIALIS, the specialist in traffic solutions in the Netherlands, has advised ProRail to assess the pedestrian routes efficiently using PTV Viswalk.
