Being a “world-class” manufacturer means being present worldwide. The NSH Group (Niles-Simmons-Hegenscheidt) accomplishes this by having significant, world-class manufacturing facilities in Germany (Chemnitz and Erkelenz), USA (Albany, NY and Sterling Heights, MI), and China. Customers are supported by technical sales and service offices in Germany, USA, China, Russia, India, South Africa, Australia, and Mexico.
The company has focused its factories on key product lines. Hegenscheidt and Simmons primarily produce machine tools for railway wheelset maintenance and production while Niles-Simmons is engaged in not only railway but automotive, aerospace, and marine as well as other industrial sectors. Combining the expertise of all companies creates synergy allowing the NSH Group to offer the best technology available to its customers.
ARGUS® 2 is a wheelset diagnostic system that provides automatic monitoring of all vehicle mounted wheelsets in a drive-through operation, using the latest measurement methods and data stored in its database. Today even lower tolerances and limit values are automatically monitored by the system. Automatic monitoring is essential to cope with the demand for faster operating speeds, safety, ride comfort and operational reliability and the ever-present cost pressures. The modular design of the ARGUS®2 wheelset diagnostic system also facilitates conceptual adjustments to the customer‘s measurement requirements.
The ARGUS® 2 system will automatically identify all trains and measure their wheelsets. All measurement results are stored in an open architecture database. Therefore, continuous monitoring of an entire fleet of wheelsets is possible without personnel costs or time loss. Trends identified in the automatically compiled measuring data can be used to determine each wheelset’s actual wear characteristics. Armed with this validated wheel tread wear pattern data, an efficient, very cost-effective and safety aware maintenance regime can be set up with a competitive advantage over other systems.
After 20 years of development and successful global applications of ARGUS technology for passenger railway traffic, we are pleased to announce the latest version of the ARGUS® 2 technology that has been specifically tailored to suit the benefits:
