Into the Future With EUROLOCKING

The Electronic Interlocking Connects Simply and Safely

Growing mobility is one of the great challenges of today’s society. The increasing traffic density on the railway net- work calls for absolute safety. At the same time, investment and maintenance costs are to be kept low and the long-term availability of all components used shall be guaranteed.

With EUROLOCKING, BÄR Bahnsicherung AG has just the right product meeting these requirements. The new interlocking concept is based on the HIMax SIL4 PLC system from HIMA, Paul Hildebrandt GmbH. This meets all applicable safety requirements according to CENELEC SIL4. EUROLOCKING enables significantly lower life cycle costs than all other conventionally proprietary electronic inter-locking solutions.

  • COTS hardware (Commercial Off the Shelf), which has proven itself in the process industry with the highest safety and security requirements for years
  • Guaranteed useful life of at least 25 years
  • CENELEC SIL4 approved system
  • SIL4 interface modules for signals and points
  • SIL4 interface modules for third party devices such as track vacancy detection devices
  • Standardized interface to level crossings according to Swiss specifications
  • Conventional wiring oft he field equipment; no electronic devices where not necessary
  • Various communication interfaces to train management and remote control systems
  • High availability oft he entire system
  • Easy replacement of all components (hot plug & play)

With EUROLOCKING, BÄR Bahnsicherung AG has developed an electronic interlocking which is freely scalable in size. EUROLOCKING can be used on standard and narrow-gauge railways as well as mountain and urban railways. The system design enables to implement either centralized or decentralized architectures. Based on the generic system architecture, tailor-made solutions can be designed and implemented.

The widespread use of industry standard products, which are manufactured in large quantities, offers cost advan- tages and improved quality compared to small series or single-part production. In addition, the dependence on suppliers is significantly reduced, which leads to improved readiness to deliver at lower lifecycle costs.

EUROLOCKING interlockings can be easily adapted to different conditions. The hardware design is modular and can be expanded as required. Changes to the software as well as later adaptions to the system can be implemented cost-effectively.
