Callisto Hy-Rail: Inertial Track Geometry Integrated with Hy-Rail Vehicle

The Callisto Hy-Rail track geometry measurement system allows for simplified track geometry measurements to be made from most standard hy-rail (road-rail) vehicles. This compact system measures all FRA-required track geometry channels, and generates reports containing strip charts, curve tables and defect lists, according to FRA track class. Callisto is an independent system that can be installed on almost any vehicle by utilising a standard receiver hitch or by a custom mounting design.
Callisto track geometry measurement systems incorporate an inertial measurement unit (IMU), a laser / camera-based gauge reference system and GPS within a rugged, compact package to accurately locate and measure the geometry of the track. Typical geometry channels are recorded based on the application and can include: gauge, alignment, curvature, surface, cross-level, super-elevation, warp and twist. For inspection applications, track geometry channels are processed to produce exceptions in real-time.
