Miner Enterprises, Inc. is a leading designer, manufacturer, and supplier of freight car components to railroads, locomotive and freight wagon builders, private wagon companies, and repair shops in 56 countries around the world.
Miner has been a major developer and manufacturer of superior railcar components since 1894 and has focused on improving the performance and value of its products and the freight cars that use them through frequent testing, in-depth service analysis and industry-related experience spanning 120 years.
Miner products are proven to boost railcar value and enhance your profitability with lower maintenance costs!
Miner draft gears are built for maximum strength and toughness to provide trouble-free service to virtually any type of railcar.
Miner’s draft gear line includes a variety of steel-friction and elastomer-friction draft gears that provide higher capacity for a wide range of service requirements. As a pioneer and industry leader in draft gear design, Miner has over 115 years experience and over 1,000,000 units currently in service.
Miner’s draft gears have consistently demonstrated that their superior capacity actually increases over time, even in the most punishing service applications. In fact, Miner’s draft gears are known to perform as good as or better after prolonged use. Tests have shown Miner draft gears to provide double-digit increases in capacity well after 1,000,000 miles of service!
European railcars began using Miner TecsPak® buffer and drawgear springs in 1979. Buffer springs can be used either as a retrofit replacement in existing housings or as the spring in new buffer constructions.
Miner TecsPak® (Thermoplastic Elastomer Compression Spring PAcKage) buffer springs require no maintenance or adjustments after installation. They resist exposure to dirt and chemicals including lubricants, diesel fuel, gasoline, hydraulic fluids and most solvents that would seriously damage or destroy rubber or urethane, even through temperature fluctuations ranging from –40° C to + 50° C.
Miner TecsPak® Constant Contact (TCC) Side Bearings help minimise railcar life cycle costs by providing exceptional, proven control over the railcar truck instability known as truck hunting. This allows railcars to operate at high speeds with substantially reduced truck and wheel wear.
Frictional turning resistance created via optimal preload and metal on metal contact with the car body Energy absorbed through longitudinal hysteresis and proper top cap engagement An animated demonstration of truck hunting control Proper preload optimises hunting resistance Smaller gap allows the top cap and housing to engage quickly.
